senior photos don’t have to be weird

Getting your picture taken can feel awkward. You don’t know what to do with your hands. Someone tells you to laugh.

We’re not doing that.

We’ll pick a place that feels like you, hang out, walk around, and make some really good photos. I’ll tell you what to do when you need it, but you don’t have to show up knowing how to pose or how to be good at having your picture taken.

You just have to show up as yourself. I’ll handle the rest.

Hey I’m Nate

I’m a senior photographer in Portland. I’ve been taking pictures since I was a teenager, which was not recently.

When I’m not taking photos, I’m likely watching basketball, at a thrift store, buying records I definitely don’t need, or watching a movie.

Before photography became my full-time job, I had a few other lives. I worked at Disney World, was a dental assistant, and eventually became a couples therapist. It’s a weird résumé, but all of it made me comfortable hanging out with people I just met.

Mostly, I like interesting people and making interesting pictures of them.

We’ll explore, find good light, and make a mix of candid and directed photos that feel natural and real. You don’t need to know what to do in front of the camera. I’ll give you direction when you need it, and leave you alone when you don’t.
